Dear Spinnies and Parents just a reminder the competition at Wasatch was canceled but thankfully I had already put in for the Corner Canyon competition the weekend of the 9th and 10th. Stretch for 30-45 minutes
Review All a Vocals/Showmanship 3 times each Rotuine
Dedicate 10 minutes to each routine focusing on areas you would like to be stronger .

Monday: 7:00 am - Come Ready for the day- we will be watching film- going over judging sheets- and having our team Christmas party. I decided to do it Monday morning instead because we are having our team dinner Thursday so didn't want to do two dinners in one week so you will be getting breakfast and we will be doing a secret sister gift exchange and some fun games. Arrive to Cyprus High No Later Than 6:20 - Please have hair 100% done, sprayed and all, perfectly slicked, hair net in, professional warm ups with tan tights, black sports bra with black racer tank under(pirate skull) and black spandex ( no underwear you don't have to tape your chest yet) team shoes- you will be getting breakfast on the bus
We will arrive to copper hills around 7:00 get checked into our room, mark the floor, check music and props and then start getting in the zone. Below is the remaining items you need to bring thanks xoxo let me know if you have any questions 😘
Make Up - Base/Foundation, Eyelashes, Eyelash Glue, Silver Metailc, Little Brush (I have the rest of your makeup)

Thursdays Schedule
Ladies I am so sorry I didn't post last night I honestly didn't get home from work until 11:15 then went to get Brin to bed and fell asleep trying to get her to sleep so here is today's detailed schedule
Morning Practice 5:30-8:30 - Finish Cleanings and Film For Nikki
Night Practice -
4:30 - Officer Meeting
5:00 - Team Meeting
5:15 - Warm Up
5:45 - Start Dress Rehersal - we are going to get ready for each routine starting with military - work on the items Nikki gives us - then run the routine full out in costume- I will film that routine then we will move on to the next routine - get ready for it - work on the things Nikki gives us then run full out
In costume - film - repeat for kick - after our team dinner so at 8:30 we will invite all parents to come jn and watch film with is so you can see their dances full out in costume but that way you don't have to sit through our entire practice - so parents if you would like to see all your daughters hard work and see how awesome they look before they compete Saturday - come in the dance room at 8:30 and we will quickly watch the three routines on the projector then the girls will be excused to go

Taking These Lemons and Making Lemonade
Dear Parents as you probably heard we will no longer be competing this Saturday at the Juan Diego competition. We would have had to dance with holes due to circumstances within our team..... with that said if we were to go and dance with holes no matter how well the girls did they would have a hard time getting a good placement due to loosing points for formations and routine. If these girls weren't a first place team I wouldn't stress about it as much but these girls have set goals and have worked so hard to get there and we have had some crappy things come up but I truly believe to be a true champion you have to learn how to overcome these obstacles and let nothing get in the way of your goals. So that's the mentality we are taking. We are starting fresh today ready to work hard so when we take that floor on the 20th this is a team that is confident, ready, and all there, so that this competition can be a positive experience and not a disheartening one. I deeply apologize for any and all inconveniences this has caused but we are still going to practice Saturday morning form 7:30-10:00 then we are going to head over and observe the competition taking notes and learning a ton while watching. Please call me with any questions or concerns. Sara and I truly appreciate the love and support that has been shown as this is a tough situation for the team but the love and support makes it so much easier to get through these obstacles so thank you for being the greatest parent ever and I'm so excited for the 20th and for these girls to be able to finally show their amazing talent, skill, and ability - we fixed all costuming issues so the girls will truly be phenomenal.

The last 30 minutes we will do a quick run through of everything, sing, pray....and show time!!

Tonight's Situation
Dear Spinnies
As you all know Alysaa hurt her knee pretty bad last night she went to Urgent Care after and she has torn some ligaments in her knee. If she is going to 100% healthy by Tuesday for our preview she needs to keep her brace on and not bend her knee at all for 3 days. She has been doing everything at home to make it better for tonight but she is still in a lot of pain so I don't want to risk causing more damage and having her out next week. WE REALLY NEED EVERYONE HEALTHY EVERY DAY NEXT WEEK!! So I am so sorry you to do this again but because we need alysaa for multiple parts in this routine to make it work we will not be dancing tonight. I know your probably sad but we still have lots of games to dance at and we have our preview on Tuesday to perform all of our 3 routines we are competing Saturday which still gives you that advantage of having performed before competing which a lot of teams don't get. So the plan for tonight is we are still going to do flag and you girls are all still required to go to the game. I need everyone to meet in the dance room at 6:30 we will have our team meeting- flag 3 will do flag - and then we will be having an officer meeting. After the officer meeting I will stay the entire game in the dance room if you girls would like to come in and I can help you with anything you would like to work on. Tonight at the meeting you will be getting your dance shoes tights and all other things minus costumes. You will get costumes Tuesday because I need to finish putting lights on kick and rhinestone dance. We will have practice tomorrow morning and will be going to comp. Ladies don't let this stress you out. Look for the positives and after we have kick solid tomorrow I just know next week will be amazing I can feel it. Love you girls and I am so sorry for the craziness of the last couple weeks with injuries and me being gone. I honestly believe to be a champion though you have to learn how to roll with the punches and make the best out of these situations because stuff like this always happens to every team. This Weeka Schedule
Hey Spinnies first off I miss you tons and really hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving break second off I have a situation I am stuck in New York until Tuesday night due to a mix up my dad made when he schedules the flights I am so sorry and have been stressed about it all weekend I tried to get my flight changed but it would have been $600.00 for Brin and I to switch flights. I'm really sorry and so since I have your hair pieces and extensions and make up we won't be dancing Tuesday I know I feel awful but I have good news though Nikki Ashton is coming Tuesday night from 5:30-8:30. I love to bring her in before comp and she could only come Tuesday night or Saturday morning so this will hopefully work out for the best. Tomorrow morning I be texting/ sending film of all the changes in kick there aren't a ton but I want you to have them learned and looking awesome for when Nikki comes that night that way you girls can focus on cleaning with her and not changing things. I love the changes and think they will help clean up the messy parts. I also will be sending you the slowed down version of kick so if by 2:00 pm your time you don't have a text with the changes and film of the changes and kick music then text me please. Also let me know if you have any questions at all I feel horrible and want you to know I want the to help anyway I can even though I am all the way across the country. Dear Spinnakers and Parents thank you again for attending the meeting the other night. Sorry it was a little chaotic t. I Just forgot to mention a couple things.
1. Just because we can't combine parents invoice with the Spinnakers invoice doesn't mean we wouldn't love for you to still come along if you would like . I need to know by Monday if your daughter will for sure 100% be going on the team trip or not so i can get the travel agent working of prices. Very Important Parent Meeting
On Tuesday November 11th at 8:00 pm we will be having a very important parent/spinnaker meeting to go over the following: Team Trip, Upcoming Fundraisers, Updated Statements, Competition Season, Dates For Review, Banquet, and Tryouts. I know there are rumors going around about new fundraising rules so we will go over everything and get all questions answered so everyone feels like they know what's going on before we start our most important time of year. Competition Season!!! So excited please let me know if you have any questions and I will see you all Tuesday the 11th of. November at 8:00 pm in the dance room. All Region and All State Candidates
Remember ladies drill is a team sport and no one on this team is more important than the other. You are all amazing and we wouldn't be the amazing team we are without each and everyone of you. Girls for all region you will receive your award at region. All state candidates I will be texting you all the info you need to know for all state auditions Wednesday's November 5th. Be happy for each other and remember to always be each other's biggest cheerleaders this was a super hard decision since you are all so incredible and all have amazing qualities. This weeks schedule
ladies from here until state we all need to make sure we are winning every hour at practice and all being team players. Being on time, no phones, wearing right attire, hair pulled back, no missing practice, making grades and citizenship, being respectful and Unifying as a family instead of getting upset and little things. Right now is when either teams push forward full steam and become their best or they break under the pressure. You aren't a team that will break and I won't let you so let's all do our part to make these next 3 months amazing. I can't wait for what's in store. Please come wearing your black tank with pirate on the back, black sports bra, black spandex, tan tights, bring. tan gore boots, hair pulled back in a high pony tail, black professional warm ups on over, team shoes, back packs with water bottle, your edge costume and make up, snacks, money for lunch, stuff to rat out hair. The games starts at 7:30 if you purchased tickets I handed them out so please make sure you have yours and the correct amount. We will be back to cyprus around 10:00 pm and the girls will be excused from school please talk to teachers and get homework before.
Thursday- Since we have a long day Wednesday, practice in the morning will be 6:30-8:30 I will give you and extra hour of sleep.

Once again I am so sorry you dont have updated statements. Spinnies plan on being at the golf course at 7:00 am wearing your black spinnaker try out shirt with jean shorts - no booty shorts please - please come looking nice not like you just rolled out of bed. We want this to be a nice professional event and we expect you girls to be very appreciative and classy the entire day. The participants are paying a lot of money so we want to make sure it's a really good experience for them. We will need everyone's help until after the second tee time goes then once we are cleaned up we will send girls minus officers home but I don't know what time that will be so just keep your day open. I do need 3 parents in the morning at 7:00 to help with registration and 3:00 more at 12:00 to help with registration for the second tee time if you could text me if you could help that would be awesome. Dance Results
Ok Spinnies so for dance tryouts we have 19 that's we have picked but the routine is choreographed for 24 so if your name isn't on this list you are fighting for the last 5 spots in the routine tonight. We feel like the rest of you are good just maybe need some work on technique or need your aerial so we have to fill those 5 spots. I will be watching tonight and seeing who is picking up on the choreography and working super hard. Hopefully we will have those 5 spots filled tonight. xoxo love you girls!

This Weeks Schedule!
Monday - First Day Of School No Practice - A Day
Tuesday - Morning Practice - 6:00 - 8:30 am
Jerra can't come Tuesday night anymore but she is still coming Wednesday night and is going to try and get it all done if not she will come the next Tuesday night practice.
Officer Meeting - 4:30
Night Practice - 5:00-8:00 pm
Wednesday - Still haven't heard from admin if we are dancing at the welcome assembly or not so we are just going to prepare as if we were and I will keep bugging them hoping to hear so we know what to plan on for sure. It is an A day so I will get our 9th graders excused if we need to. We will be doing Sierra's Dance if we do perform. Time and all that other good stuff TBA hopefully tomorrow night.

U of U game - Check in up at Rice Eccles at 3:30 pm game starts at 5:30 pm should be done around 8:30 pm. We can figure out car rides up at practice. This is a super fun fundraiser. We all work together and have a good time. Everyone need to make sure of the following. 1. That you bring an ID with you (school, drivers license, ect.) They honestly wont let you in if you forget it so please don't 2. You also need to bring your food handlers permit. 3. Please make sure you read through the cash register report packet. 4. You need to have your hair pulled back, Wear all black (no tank tops or shorts) the only logo it can have on it is the U of U. You also must wear closed toe shoes. You will get aprons that you will pick up at check in. 5. They ask that you not bring in purses because there isn't a ton of room. You do get dinner and tips so bring tip jard WAHOO!!! xoxo

Team Competitions
The three invitational competitions we will be doing this year are.....
Salt Lake Valley Classic - Juan Diego High School - December 12th -13th
Excalibur High School - Copper Hills High School - December 19th - 20th
Wasatch Invitational - Wasatch High School - January 16th - 17th
Region is usually the Tuesday after Martin Luther King Day so maybe the 20th I haven't heard for sure yet.
State is the last Friday in January so the 30th and it is an all day event
Solo Registration
I handed out solo registration forms for our comp on the 19th of December and the 16th of January.

Statements
Ok so I have the breakdowns of USANA form Dan I just need to make sure I have all of your receipts if you have paid since the last statement back in June! I only have a couple so want to make sure I have them all because I really am going to get to them this Sunday. The studio is located at 500 West and 230 South in the Art Space studio building. It will be on the West side of the street just south of gateway. When you park, park in the gravel area, NOT in the numbers. (your car will get towed)For your payment, you can make it tomorrow by card, check, or cash. I am fine with either. Checks need to made out to Emily Lowe.PLEASE arrive on time. We have a ton of girls to get through so we need to make sure we are running smoothly.Last but not least, when you get there park in the lot and the North East side of the building is where the entrance is, go in through those doors and go to the sign that says lobby. Ladies for your performance Friday you will be wearing your hair in a messy bun Mohawk we will talk about it tomorrow if you don't know what a messy bun Mohawk is. We will be wearing gold glitter with our team black eyeliner from last year. So if any of you girls have black eyeliner will you please bring it also the red lips. Friday - Practice 3:30 - For The Rest Of The Night. When you come to practice you need to have hair done for performance (details to come soon) Please make sure to bring your Blue Spinnaker top with your gold shorts, tan tights, tan gore boots, and tape. Also everything you will need for our sleepover. Britt is making a packing list for you girls. You girls will be dancing at the blue and gold game and we will stay and watch until the end. After we are going out to dinner at Chili's. You do not need money. After we eat dinner we will be heading to Brittney Jacketta's house to do our Spinnie Night. This is a long-standing tradition and is a really fun team bonding night. I am so excited.
Saturday - Breakfast around 7:30 then head home to get ready for our TEAM PICTURES. This was kind of a last minute choice but we thought it would be the perfect time to do it since we would all be together. We got an awesome photographer who is giving us a great deal. We will be doing the pictures at her studio. I will attach her package/pricing list. We are starting the photo shoot at 11:00 so if everyone leaves Britt's by 8:00 that will give you a good three hours to go home and get ready. She will send me directions to her studio later this week and I will post them. She will also have a hair stylist/makeup artist there to help touch you girls up as needed. Below I will post the times you need to show up. After you photo shoot time you are welcome to grab lunch or leave for a little bit but everyone needs to report back at 1:00 pm for team/class pictures. She is estimating to be done around 2:30. After we will all be heading as a team to the new Step-Up movie. You do not need to pay for this. After the movie you girls will be excused to do what you need to do for the rest of the day. I hope you girls are excited because this will be a really fun day.
Attire : Team Picture - You must wear all black but can accessories with anything gold. Please wear something professional and classy. We are wanting more fancy than casual. For the team pic no boobies, booties, tube tops, or tummies showing. You can wear a tank as long as its not a spaghetti strap. For your action shot we would also like you to wear all black. It can be whatever you want obviously something you can dance in. The backdrop will be all white so its will be a really pretty contrast. We decided if you would like to wear high wasted shorts and just a little bit of your tummy above your belly button was showing that would be fine, but no full tummies showing, booties, or boobies. Keep it classy and professional. For your headshots/full body shots you can wear what you want I just need one in what you wear for team pic. If you get more than that you can wear whatever you want. They are you pics. :). Hope this will work great for everyone. I apologize again for it being only 8 day notice but its hard to get the girls all together on a Saturday without prior commitments so we thought this Saturday would be great since you already had it scheduled out for our activity. Let me know if you have any conflicts or if financially you need some help. Emmy said you can pay....cash, check or card. She would like to have a count of what package each girl is doing before the shoot. So if you could text me as soon as you know that would be great so I can give her a count. Also she said you can add on to any package anything you would like.

REAL PERFORMANCE INFO
So excited for this!! The Spinnies will be doing their Zombie Edge Routine at the halftime of the Real Game. All Details Below.
REAL/BDT Performance
October 22, 2014
COST: The cost is $25 per dancer (We will be paying for this from U of U fundraising so parents you do not need to pay the $25.00)
TICKETS: All
spectators (friends and family) need to get their tickets through Jen Petrosky
at REAL. Her contact info is: 801-727-2728, jpetrosky@realsaltlake.com. I need one parent to be in charge of all contact with REAL,
they just want one point of contact per school. (Let me know if you are willing to help me out please and thank you) Spectator tickets are $20 and
need to be purchased by Sept 10th.
SCHEDULE: Practice will start at 6:30-8:15am at Soccer City
757 West 11400 South in Draper. It is a huge Soccer Complex that they have rented
out to practice at since High Schools are in session and need their gyms. We
will space everything at this time.
At 8:15am we will
head to REAL to practice until 10am. They only allow us 1.5 hours on the field,
and this particular time only.
At 10:15am we will go
back to Soccer City and practice until 12:30.
BREAK from 12:30-5:00 At this time we will be eating lunch together as a team and getting ready for performance.
We will practice at a High School near the REAL stadium
(hopefully Jordan)…just waiting on a few details. I will keep you posted. We
will meet there at 5:00pm-6:00 to get ready and warm up, 6-6:45 we will review.
We need to be at REAL at 7pm.
Game starts at 7:30pm
Performance around 8:15pm.
COSTUME: (Note from BDT) Come prepared with your zombie costume. Reminder to
keep the colors more earthy and not neon. They can be ripped, burned, dirtied
up, etc. We just do not want any blood. You could have wedding dresses, tutus,
overalls, button up dress shirts, pants, skirts, capris, t-shirts, or whatever
your creative minds can come up with. Just make sure that each dancer has their
own costume and you do not do a team costume that matches. All dancers need to
bring their own makeup. Just simple black, gray and white.
When we practice we will wear a team practice outfit that will be assigned later.

Dear Parents and Spinnies. I need all of you to go login and register at my registermyathlete.com . If you already did and paid the $50.00 that it was saying you had to at first then they will just refund you or we can apply that to your drill fees let me know what you would like to do. This Weeks Schedule
Monday - take off get registration done and have a great day. Tuesday - Sorry ladies because of USANA concert we need to move practice on Tuesday to 2:00-4:30 pm with an officer meeting right after until 5:15. FYI I am not moving practice anymore for USANA concerts. Once school starts our schedule is pretty consistent so please make arrangements to have someone cover for you if it will conflict with a practice or performance. Thank you in advance. Wednesday still 6:00-9:00 am and Thursday are tryouts 4:00-8:00 (please wear your black tank with pirate skull on back, black spanx, black bra, tan tights, tan gore boots, hair pulled back, please look professional and not like you just rolled out of bed. Thanks) please bring a healthy or favorite treat to share. Friday you have off so enjoy it and rest up so we can have a successful survivor week! Love you all and I am so excited to get going. You will be getting a calendar this week for the month of August also I am working on statements I promise just been swamped with choreography, music, and costuming, but I hope to get statements out this week. Golf Tournament
Dear Spinnies our golf tournament will be here before we know it and I am so excited. We would like you girls to start trying to get teams together. I would like to have a meeting regarding the golf tournament that is mandatory for all girls and any parents willing to help. We will be having the meeting August 11th after practice on the football visitors bleachers. We will have donation assignments then also. Each girl is required to get 3 donations (2 are assigned and then each girl need s to get one of their own ) for the golf teams each girl is required to get a golf team made of 4 players, once you have your 4 players let me know please. Please also get the following information from your golfer ... Tee time 8:00 am or 2:00 pm Shirt size, $65.00 per golfer, and let them know they get lunch for free. Please let me know if you have any questions! Hopefully this makes sense I am pretty tired haha

U of U Games

Tentative August Schedule
Spinnies and parents here is a tentative schedule of what's going on for the month of august so you can plan accordingly! Please be aware there might be changes due to scheduling of the facility but hopefully there won't be. Hope your all doing well!
August 4th - No Practice - Please everyone get your registration stuff done this day instead of Tuesday thank you.
August 5th - Practice 4:00-8:30 pm
August 6th - Practice 6:00-9:00 am
August 7th - Tryouts for routines starting at 4:00 pm more details to come soon.
August 8th - No practice rest up for Survivor Week
August 11th - 15th The start of survivor week. Be prepared for long practices and learning as much as you can thus week we will be learning 3 comp routines and working on technique, flex, and strength, and also have a performance on Friday night. This is a hard but really fun week. Practice will be from 3:00-8:30 everyday this week. No two a days this year just one big chunk because that's what ended up working best with everything so make sure to pack lots of snacks and water. Friday night we perform at the blue and gold game then after we have a huge traditions called spinnie night and we have a sleepover and go do some unity the next day. It's way fun. Can't wait. More details will come as we get closer.

How to Get Higher Leg Extensions

Strengthening the Iliopsoas
The iliopsoas muscle complex consists of three muscles -- psoas major, psoas minor and iliacus -- that work together to flex the hip joint. Weakness in these muscles will make it impossible for you to lift your leg higher than hip height, or 90 degrees. To strengthen the iliopsoas, sit on the floor and extend your left leg in front of you. Bend your right knee to place your foot on the floor. Lean back slightly, placing some of your weight on your hands. Inhale deeply. When you exhale, bring your right knee toward your chest. Slightly lower your thigh and bring it back up four times before lowering your right thigh and returning your foot to the floor. Repeat four times with the same leg. Then, switch legs.
Tips and Tricks for the Iliopsoas Exercise
When you begin to strengthen your iliopsoas, perform the exercise with your pelvis slightly tucked under by transferring more of your weight onto your hands. As you gain strength and awareness of your iliopsoas, keep the pelvis in a neutral position with less weight on your hands so you work the iliopsoas while maintaining proper dance alignment. To focus the work on the iliopsoas, make sure you don’t lift your right hip to bring your right knee toward your chest. Lifting the hip indicates you are contracting your gluteal muscles. Contracting these muscles will make it more difficult to perform high leg extensions. Instead, feel your sit bone, or ischial tuberosity, on the bottom of your pelvis dropping into the floor.
Hamstring Flexibility
Flexible hamstrings allow you to straighten your legs when you lift them to the front or side of your body. Targeting all of the hamstring muscles is necessary to prevent imbalances in the flexibility of the muscles on the backs of your legs. Begin by lying on the floor. Bend your right knee and place your foot on the floor. Grab your left foot with your left hand and straighten your left leg. Bring your leg as close to your torso as possible. Hold the stretch for several breath cycles. Then, move your leg to the left of your body as far as possible. Hold this position, which stretches both the hamstrings and the adductors, for several breath cycles. Finally, bring your leg to the right, crossing it in front of your torso. Hold for several breath cycles before repeating with the other leg.
Adductor Flexibility
Your adductors are on the inside of your upper thigh. Flexible adductors are necessary for leg extensions to the side. To stretch these muscles, sit on the floor and open both legs to the side as far as possible. Place your hands on the floor in front of you and walk them away from your body. Lower your torso toward the floor as far as possible. Hold the stretch, breathing regularly.

July Work Out Calendar!!
Ladies here is your July Work Out Calendar. I was going to have you check off a chart when you completed each day but I want you girls to text me each day you finish your items and I will keep a chart at home. I will have an awesome prize for those who complete each days assignment and that text me telling me they completed the days assignment. Put a reminder in your phone or somewhere you will see it daily so you won't forget :)
Mondays- Run 1 Mile, Stretch for 30 minutes with focus really on hamstrings, do both camp hip hop and comp hip hop full out. Work on leap combo for dance tryouts. If you want have someone film you and send it to me and I will give you some pointers to perfect it.
Tuesdays - Do 50 Jumping Jacks, 50 Jump Squats, 2 minute Wall Sit, 50 mtn climbers. ( repeat 5 times) Stretch For 30 minutes really focusing on hip flexers. Run Camp Dance and Lyrical Combo Full Out. Work on Military Arms (set one small goal when doing arms and don't quit until you have reached that goal) . You can also film and send them to me for me to give you some pointers.
Wednesdays - Run 1.5 Miles, Stretch For 30 Minutes focusing on splits ( if you are completely flat then do over splits), Run Edge full out, work on turn combos, both the single double triple quad, and the turn sequence. If you want to know what to work on film them and send them to me.
Thursdays - Do 50 Burpees, 50 Tricep Dips, 50 Shoulder Taps, Hold Plank 90 Seconds, 10 full all the way up all the way down push ups (Repeat 5 times) Stretch For 45 minutes really focusing on every area from head to toe, run Sierras routine full out, review and work on kick sequences same thing with arms set a small goal and don't stop until you have reached it.
Fridays - Run 2 Miles, Stretch For 30 minutes (focus on an area you would like to be more flexible) Run All Routines and Combos Full Out One Time.
Saturdays - Have Fun
Sundays - Relax!!! Sometime Through Out The Day I Want You To Lay Down and Count Through Each Routine and Combo. Imagining yourself doing them all perfect.
Remember Ladies.... Team Work Makes The Dream Work and We Can't Move Forward As A Team Unless Every Single One Of Us Commits To This Schedule. No Excuses Just Total Commitment. Love you girls and I believe that every single one of you can do this and be a team member that keeps the dream moving along. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Have a fantastic summer break. Please be safe and make good choices. xoxo
