Tips On Increasing Flexibilty
Dear Spinnakers,
I took a flexibility class from Travis Lake who Is A Member of Odyssey Dance not to long ago and he told me that they stretch for a full hour every time they rehearse. Flexibility is one of the most important thing for a dancer to have. Below I will lost some tips on how to increase your flexibility so you can become a better dancer.
#1 Always Stretch When Your Body Temperature Is Up. Don't ever stretch cold muscles because it will just be a waste of time. You want your muscles as warm as you can get them before you stretch, so you can get the most out of each stretch. Do any of the following before stretching: Warm your muscles up by taking a nice hot bath or shower, stretch in a room where the temperature is 85 degrees plus, go for a jog, do jumping jacks, or any type of cardio that will get that heart pumping and the muscles moving.
#2 Try And Stretch In A Place With No Distractions - You will get the most out of your stretching if you can go to a quiet room with no distractions and just be able to focus on each muscle you are stretching and focus on each breaths you take while you stretch. This helps the oxygen flow to that part of the body which will also increase blod flow which will lead to better results as your are pushing yourself.
#3 Always Make Sure You Feel Some Tension While You Are Stretching - If stretching is easy then you are not doing it right. No matter how flexible you are there is always a way to push your muscles even further (use walls or elevated surfaces). When you are done stretching your body should feel exhausted, you should be shaking because you are pushing yourself the entire time. The best way to increase the flexibility while stretching is to take a deep breathe before you do the stretch then slowly exhale while you hold the stretch once the air is all released take another big breathe and as you exhale push yourself even further, repeat one more time so you should do about 3 12 second reps.
#4 Drink Plenty Of Water And Keep Moving - After a good stretch make sure you drink plenty of water to keep your muscles free of toxins and keep moving so your muscles dont tighten back up and loose some of the flexibilty you just worked so hard for.

How To Do A Perfect Jazz Pirouette

After putting much thought and care into selecting our officers these are the ladies who will be serving you to the best of their ability. I believe these ladies will try their best every day. A couple more things we need 3 more people to work the maverick game tomorrow. This game is a team fundraiser, but this money helps get the team cute things. I know today at our meeting we decided on doing practice Tuesday and Thursday 3-5 well Tuesday wont work anymore so instead of Tuesday can we do Wednesday and Thursday 3-5? Just put in your email you are going to send to me if this schedule will work for you, please and thank you.
Last thing I really need everyone at the parent meeting on the 9th but I have some girls dancing at a jazz game that night so if we could reschedule for another night that week that would be great. If it wont work for everyone we will just keep the meeting on the same day and I will have a separate meeting with the girls that miss. Final Post For The 2012-2013 Season :(
Dear Spinnakers I think I have told you a 100 times now but I truly cant thank you enough for being such amazing girls! I will always treasure this year and each and everyone of you! Here are just a couple of things that we need to go over. First off don't forget banquet money is either due to me after school tomorrow at 2:30 or needs to be to my house before 7:00 pm. Also your accounts need to be paid off by Tuesday at 12:00 or I cant allow you to come to the banquet and I really really really don't want to do that. I am so excited for our banquet. If you have any questions regarding the banquet please call me otherwise just be ready to have a fun night honoring the amazing year we had. Wednesday is costume turn in day! I will meet you after school up by the drill closet. I will hand out check off lists tomorrow when you turn your banquet money in. :) Friday I should have your review DVDs and nice programs for you. Plan on meeting after school to pick these up I will let you know for sure though. Last thing we will not be holding first hour drill anymore there are only 7 more B days until the quarter is over so enjoy sleeping in if you need to go early you are more than welcome to go and sit in the gym and do homework but no going to school early and roaming the halls or disrupting other classes if I hear of any problems we will all have to start coming at 7:30 and have study hall because we can't practice because of moratorium, but I am sure this wont be a problem. Thanks again girls for everything! You will all always hold a special place in my heart! Don't forget to be unstoppable in every moment of life! Love you.

Last Week Of Dril :(
Where did the time go I cant believe this is the last week of drill. Breaks my heart but I am so excited for Review! Here is the schedule for this week so everyone knows what to expect and what to do! Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
Monday March 4th: Morning Practice 8:00 - 9:30
Class and Mini Spinnie/Stud Dances Pass Off Set Up A Time With Natalie

Tuesday March 5th: No Morning Practice
Mini Spinnies - 5:00-8:00 pm (I need everyone there ready to go at 5:00 this night so we can go over all the rules and so I can hand out class roles and have help with more registration that I am sure will be coming in! Classes start promptly at 6:00 and end right at 8:00 please decide between your group who brings treats what night! Also please make sure someone brings a cd player from each group. Make sure you plan out what you are going to teach and due each day so the classes are as organized as can be! You do not have assigned outfits but please make sure you have clothes on and please bring your warm up jacket to wear as you move the girls from room to room and when the first come in so they know who to look for!
