Back To School!! This Weeks Schedule

Dear Spinnakers hope you all got some good rest today! I am posting this weeks schedule so everyone is clear on whats going on as we are starting our new practice schedule once school starts. Just to be clear we will practice every B Day morning 5:30-8:30 am then you girls have 25 minutes to get ready for school. We also will practice EVERY Tuesday and Thursday night 5:30-8:30 pm. This week we will practice Monday morning 7:00-10:00 am. Remember we will be trying out for both of our hip hop routines! Depending on how practice goes Monday will determine if I give you girls Tuesday off or not. If we get done what needs to be done you will have Tuesday off to enjoy your last day of summer. (Side note on that. It will be the last day of summer and I am sure there will be parties please remember our team rules. I would hate to have to put someone on probation for football. Be smart and be aware. Love ya). Wednesday morning is the first day of school and it is an A day only, so we will not have practice. Thursday morning is a B Day and since we have all morning and you just had two days off we will be practicing that morning and night from 5:30-8:30am in the morning and 5:30-8:30 at night. Friday morning we will be performing at the hello assembly. (I will post all the details about that Tuesday). There are two assemblies. We will be performing our camp hip hop routine at the assembly. If you are a 9th grader I will email your counselor this week to excuse you. The rest of you at the high school will be excused also. I will have times of the assembly tomorrow. Friday night is also game night. We will performing the hip hop we took to camp. So we have two routines to get performance ready by Friday this week so we have a lot to do. Please stay on task at practice and practice at home as well. We also will be adding on to our comp routines you learned last week so we can make sure they are 100% finished by the end of the month. Love you girls thank you for working hard last week lets keep this energy and hard work going. xoxoxo

Dear Parents,

We have the opportunity to work at the Utah Fair if you would like to make extra money towards your daughters account (just a little reminder we are putting in to travel this year) We would need 10 parents. We are still trying to clarify for sure dates and times just wanted to see if it was something you would be interested in. Let me know either way. Thanks for all your help. Also thanks for being patient as practice has got out 10-15 minutes later than planned this week. The girls are doing amazing though!! Sara and I are so proud of them and I truly feel like they are growing not only technically but also closer as a team. Cant wait to see what the rest of the week brings.

Univeristy of Utah Games

Dear Parents and Spinnakers,

We have been signed up for 4 U of U games and one High School Playoff Game. I originally said this would be an individual fundraiser but where there are only 4 games and you have had so many concert opportunities Sara and I have decided to make these 4 U of U games a team fundraiser and the High School Playoff game can be an individual account fundraiser. We have to get all new competition costumes and they are going to be amazing. The costumes lady who is making them for us (thankfully not the one who did our sabre dresses haha) said she does a lot of teams costumes across the state and ours by far were going to be the most impressive, so we are really excited but want to also make sure we will have the money to put into our character that we need, so these 4 U of U football games will be the extra we need. So I will assign your daughter 2 games because we need 18 girls to work each game so it will work out great and that will be all they will have to do. The U of U dates are September 7th October 3rd October 12th and November 30th. If any of those dates will not work for you please let me know ASAP, and parents thankfully this is one your daughters get to work and you get to relax! Yay. The only requirement I need these girl to get done is make sure they have a food handler permit everything else is taken care of. I will post the names of who is working when sometime next week. Also statements will be out next week because we will have our check by then that say what you got paid each concert. Thanks for being patient just a reminder next payment is due September 30th so you will have a good month and a half until next payment is due when I get the statements out. You are all awesome fundraisers. Thanks for being so great and helpful. Last thing is yes we are putting in to travel again this year. Hopefully we will have a meeting in September with all the details. Also know we have some awesome fundraising ideas to help your daughter pay for her trip. We will go over all that at the meeting though. Thank you so much!

Sabres

Spinnakers & Parents start spreading the word to Spinnaker Alumni that we will be selling some of the old sabres as a fundraiser and because we know they will mean a lot more to an alumni who used them and know the tradition rather than just sitting in our drill closet. We are selling them for $125.00. These older sabres were originally $250.00 so this is a great deal. Have them contact Sara or Me if they are interested.

Survivor Week Schedule

Survivor Week has come and I couldn't be more excited. If each of you take this week seriously at the end of this week you will all be better dancers, and that makes me so excited. I love to see improvement, hard work, and team unity. This week will be stressful and you will probably have a lot of emotions so I beg of you to please do the following everyday before you come to a practice. Number one please make sure you are taking care of yourself, getting at least 6-7 hours of sleep a night, drinking lots of water, eating meals that will fuel your body not make you sick. Number two... Whatever is going on in your life outside of drill that might make you not be able to practice to the best of your ability please leave it at the door. Number Three, be patient with your team. Everyone is going to be working hard and have a lot of pressure to be learning a ton this week so be kind, motivate, and encourage You are all in this together on the same team working for the same goal. With that being said here is your schedule for the upcoming week. It will be hard but it will be a lot of fun as well. Make sure to bring lots of water, running shoes, jazz shoes, sabre, and  no jewelry please.  Please make sure you are prepared every day and make it a goal to not get one demerit all week . xoxox

Hair In A Slicked Sock Bun Like We Wore For Camp Parted On The Left. We Will Do Make Up Together, Stretch ,Run Through Our Dance, Then Perform At The Blue and Gold Game Which Starts At 7:00 pm.

Spinnaker Night/ Retreat:
After we perform at the blue and gold game we will spend the rest of the night together as a team for Spinnaker night. This is a sleepover and is a lot of fun. This has been a Spinnaker tradition forever and we are hoping this year to make it more memorable and try to have a fun day Saturday to pay off for all your hard work. So here is a detailed plan of what will be going on. After the Blue and Gold Game Friday we will all head up to the Chili's in Jordan Landing and eat dinner as a team. Each girl will get $12.00 to go towards her dinner. If you will be spending more than that then you need to make sure you bring extra money and have enough to pay for what you get. So if you need to get online look at their menu and plan what your getting, so it doesn't end up that you dont have enough money.
Remember you will all get $12.00 towards your meal and we will pay your tip. Anything over that you are responsible for. After we eat dinner, we will head over to Sara's mom's house in West Jordan. She has a big beautiful basement that will easily and comfortably sleep all of us. Once we get to Sara's moms house we will be staying there the rest of the night, doing a lot of  team bonding, and really neat things that are tradition that will help bring our team closer together. Once we are done we will put on a movie and go to bed. The next morning we will wake up around 9:00 am, eat breakfast, then head to the seven peaks in Provo to spend the day having fun in the sun. You girls will not need to pay to get in. If you have a pass of all passes please bring it. If you do not that is just fine let me know please. We will be at Seven Peaks from 11:00 am to about 3:30 pm. After seven peaks we will be having a team BBQ with a bounce house! YAY!!
I am so excited and this will be a really fun weekend. Please know the only thing you girls will need to pay for on this weekend will be if you want to rent a tube at Seven Peaks or if you want lunch at Seven Peaks. The reason we are going to the Provo seven peaks is because we can rent a Cabana, it is more fun, more clean, and less crowded. Also parents please know that I will be having seniors drive the girls down because Sara and I can't have the girls in our car with us and because its really expensive to get a bus, so I do need to let you know that Saturdays activities will not be made mandatory because of school rules, but I promise we will make sure everyone is following the law, and has a seat belt. I hope everyone can make it to the activity even thought its not mandatory because it will be so much fun, but I do need to make sure everyone knows because of school rules that this activity cannot be made mandatory.
We will be having the BBQ at Kennedy's and the girls should be done with everything around 7:00 pm Saturday night. Please let me know if you have any questions at all.
I can't wait to get this week started. You girls are learning 4 routines this week, and have guest teachers coming in to teach classes, so please make sure you come to drill every day, so focused, ready to beat your best. Lets give that 200% everyday and at the end of the week be amazed at how far we have come as a team. XOXOXO

Routine Tryouts

Dear Spinnakers,

Sorry this post took longer than you would have hoped, but Sara and I needed to do some thinking on Sabre, and talk with Lori, and get her opinion, since she is the queen of sabre. I wanted to post these 3 routines together, so below you will find your name under the routine if you were selected to be the that routine. Just a little reminder to EVERYONE of you. Everyday when you come for practice if I dont feel like you are fighting for your spot on that floor you will loose it. You all promised last week to be committed 200%, so I wont give you anymore warnings. If I or Sara have to get after you in practice to try harder or to quit being lazy I will just pull you out. It is a privileged to dance for the Spinnakers and to be in competition routines so please remember that and treat it as such. You girl are amazing and I am SOO excited to get our survivor week started.
Last thing remember that if your name is not listed under a routine, it doesn't mean your a failure, or that your not a good dancer. It just means you have a little bit more work to do. It is not impossible for anyone, its just how bad you want it. If you are an alternate for a dance....you will be expected to learn every routine on the side, work just as hard as the girls in the routine, and dont make Sara or I have to babysit you. You will learn more as an alternate if you take it seriously and I promise you will come out a better dancer. Sara and I love you all and are so grateful for the opportunity we have to get to work with a team of 36 girls who are beautiful inside and out, and who we believe can achieve their goal of winning state. Just remember you have to put that extra effort in all 200% of it. Beat your best everyday. If you mess up one day, wake up the next day, and try again. Don't ever let giving up cross your mind. When something isn't working the way you hope try a different way. XOXOXO. Believe. True Girt. Heart
