Spinnaker Week

Spinnakers I am so excited to start practice again. I hope you girls did your workouts and have been working on your goals. Spinnaker week will be hard but also very rewarding. Because of some scheduling issues we will have our night practices from 4:30-7:30 now Instead of 5:00-8:30. Just a couple of heads up make sure to bring lots of water everyday you will need it. On Tuesday and Thursday you need to bring a set of 5 lb hand weights. Tryouts for military and kick will be Monday night starting at 4:30 hopefully ending at 7:30. I got judges who don't know any of you so you all have a fair chance. Please bring a treat to share with everyone for tryouts its a long night so you want to make sure you have some food. Make sure its not all junk though so you don't get sick for tryouts.  Make sure you look at your calendar I emailed so you know what to wear each day. On Wednesday night the team will be going bowling. So make sure you don't have any plans. :) This will be a really fun night! Everything we do this week is mandatory so please make it a high priority. This week is going to be just what we need so come with a good attitude ready to work hard, make memories, and become a closer team. Just a quick note for Friday night after the blue and gold game. We will be having a mandatory sleepover no excuses will be allowed if you miss you will receive 3 demerits. This is a huge traditions and a great start to growing together as a team. This night we will be having a personal show and tell circle. Bring something that means a lot to you that no one knows about you. This is a time to break down the walls we have built up and take the steps necessary to truly becoming a team of sisters! I am so excited to be back to work with you girls and can't wait to see how all your hard work has paid off. Physicals

Ladies you must all have a physical before I can let you dance for any football games. Cyprus has put together a day to go and get your physical if you haven't yet. The dates are Wednesday August 1st at 5:00 pm and Thursday August 9th at 3:30 pm. The cost will be $20.00 (cash only) and the physicals will be at Granger Medical. If I do not have your physical form in my hand by August 18th you will not dance in the Real game. Hurry and get this done. Thanks ladies

Just A Quick Reminder

I hope you girls are working hard on our team goal to have aerials and triples for when we come back. I know some of you have been working super hard. Don't give up! I love this quote so I thought I would share it with you. "She Believed She Could So She Did". Believe in yourselves and you will be blown away with what you can achieve!! :)

Blood Alley August 3rd

Hey girls we have the opportunity to do blood alley at the relay for life August 3rd at 6:00 pm  for the Cancer Survivors. This would be a really neat opportunity for you to honor them. We will still be on moratorium so its not required but I am hoping we can get a chunk of girls together to do this. I can't be in charge because it is moratorium but you need to contact Jes if you are interested so she can get everything organized and plan a practice for you to go through it.

Also we were going to help with a walk for diabetes next month for service but it is the same day as the car wash so we are hoping to sign up as virtual walkers and donate a little bit of money to help fight diabetes. So many people are affected by diabetes and many girls on the team are close to someone who battles with it. So even if you just get a dollar from 5 people you are helping make a difference. $ for the walk will be due August 21st. Thanks girls!

U of U Fundraiser

Hey girls we have the dates for the U of U football game concessions. We need 12 girls 3 parents and a group leader each time. This also will be first come first serve. If you still owe money on your account this is a great way to pay off. (This is an individual account fundraiser) At the bottom I will post all the games then you need to email,call, or text me and tell me what games you would like to work at. First come first serve. Remember if you don't have your food permit get to the class at Rice Eccles on the 31st of this month! :)

Golf Teams

Just a heads up girls since we can only have 14 teams per tee time, the tee times will be first come first serve. If you already have a team of 4 put together and know what time they want you better hurry and text, e-mail, or call me ASAP because as soon as a tee time is full they will have to go to whatever is available. I will keep you posted on that. When we come back from break I will have a form for all of you to fill out that will have each golfers name on the team a box to check if they have paid and a box for shirt size. Please make sure as you are trying to get teams together that you tell the golfers that lunch and a shirt are included in the price. Those who aren't golfing are welcome to come hang out and eat a yummy lunch! The money for each team is due to me August 31st. If I don't have their money I will open their spot back up to any teams that weren't able to get on the first time. Also please email me the company you are going to pick on your own for donations so I can write them down, and then we will draw for the other 3 after the break. Dont worry you will have a good month to get donations. Please be excited about this and do your part. Let me or Julie McGow know if you have any questions!! Thanks!!

August Calendar

Parents just so you know I emailed a copy of our August calendar to all the girls. Please get with them and look over it. I will post a detailed schedule of spinnaker week sometime next week. Be aware this schedule may change but I will always let you know if it does.! Thanks

Team Pictures

Spinnakers and Parents just reminding you that either Glam Photography or I need to be informed on what package you will be choosing by July 31st (day of the food permit class) Money for pictures is also due that day! You may turn it in to me or mail it/call over the phone to glam photography. Thanks girls. We will have your outfits for the team pictures but we would like for your individual pictures for you to wear bright colors. Please make sure that your clothes look nice and follow the school dress code. Thanks girls.

Wednesday July 18th

Hey ladies just to clarify Wednesday so there is no confusion. Wednesday morning at 7:30 we will be leaving cyprus high school to head over to Olympus to suprise them with cards and flowers for the girl who got hit. It shouldn't take long. (Make sure if you can't come you get your card to an officer if you dont have a card for their team you will receive a demerit. Just take a minute to write them a note) I will have a card for the girl who got hit from all of you along with flowers. That should only take an hour and half at the most. I then need to have a meeting with my officers from 9:00 until 10:30. If you are not an officer meet back at the high school at 10:30 for our service project and lunch. New Assistant

Spinnakers I am so excited to announce that I hired an amazing assistant today. Her name is Sara Smith and she will be the perfect fit for our team. Can't wait for you to meet her.

Real $ Money $

Hey ladies I need your $10.00 for the Real game on Wednesday when we meet for the service project. I had to send the check off today so please make sure you are responsible and get the money to me Wednesday please. Remember the total was $35.00 but since we have pictures coming up I thought the money we raise from the car wash will pay for the rest. If I don't have your money in my hand by the end of the day Wednesday you will not be able to participate in the Real Soccer half time show. If you are writing a check please make it out to Cyprus High School. If you bring cash please place it in an envelope with your name on the front. Thanks girls. Also if you sold tickets let me know ASAP because you will have to turn in the money Tuesday night! Thanks :)

Birthdays

I finally got through all the birthdays and realized I missed Jacquelyns birthday last week. So happy late Birthday Hac I hope it was wonderful. Also Ashton has a birthday coming up this week on Thursday! Happy Soon To Be Birthday Ashton hope it it wonderful as well. If you get time make sure to wish these wonderful girls happy birthday!!

Service Project Scheduled

Spinnakers our first team service project will be held this coming Wednesday at 10:30 am. We will be going around to the different fire stations in Magna and West Valley thanking them for their service and sacrifies. I will have everything with me you just need to make sure you are at the high school at 10:30 sharp. I think it would be fun to all go to lunch at Chick Fila after so bring some money for lunch. We will have to carpool so if you are riding with someone it might be nice to offer then like 2 dollars for gas. We wont be driving to far but lots of stopping and going. If you are able to drive please send a message to the team letting them know. Girls its your responsibiltiy to find a ride. If you cant find a ride let me know. Since we are on moritorium it is not mandatory but you will be missing out on some great team time if you cant make it. Let me know as soon as you can if you will be there or not. Thanks girlies!!

Spinnaker Car Wash

We will be having the Spinnakers car wash the 25th of August from 10-2. Each girl will be REQUIRED to sale 10 tickets a piece, so please get out and start talking about it. Those who dont sell all 10 of their tickets will have to run a  mile for each ticket left over. Each ticket is $5.00 and we will have those the first week back to practice in August!! Also we will go over the car wash in more detail. Let me know if you have any quesiotns or concerns! Thank You!!

Golf Tournament

Parents we are trying to get everything going for the golf tournament so it can be successful. If you know of any companies who are willing to donate to the Spinnakers golf tournament please text or call Julie and let her know so we can get the girls assigned their businesses. Just a heads up so you can start putting the word out. Each girl will be required to get together 1 team (4 golfers in a team, $60.00 per person, lunch and shirt included), Sell 15 lunch tickets (we will hand out tickets the first week back in August) at $8.00 a piece and find 4 business/people to donate gifts or $. You will be assigned 3 and can pick whoever you want for your 4th one. Girls I beg of you, be motivated, get out and ask people. I have a lot of cute things I would love to order for you girls this year but it can't happen if we don't raise a good chunk of money so get busy. There will be a prize for each girl who can sell the most lunch tickets and another prize for who gets the most donations. Get to work and just think of all the cute things you can get this year if you work hard. Thanks girls. I am even getting a team together, Selling 15 tickets, and getting 4 donations. Let me know if you have any questions. Our first week back to practice we will have papers for you covering all this information. :) Just want you to start talking it up now. Also I made a typo I know on the golf tournament post I said it was on the 14th of September that is wrong it is on Saturday the 15th of September with tee times at 9:00 am and 2:00 p.m. with a yummy BBQ lunch and silent auction in between. We will be making flyers and posters the first of August to let more people be aware. Also people are more than welcome to just come up for the lunch and silent auction they dont have to just come for golfing! ( we can only have 14 teams golfing at each tee time so it will be first come first serve and I will let you know when each tee time is full)

Team Pictures

Parents I let the girl know but just so you all know team pictures are on Friday August 17th so please make sure your girls are able to attend. They are mandatory (even if your girls aren't buying pictures). I will post all the picture info this weekend. Just wanted you to mark the date down. Also remember the Real soccer game is that Saturday after and if you haven't bought your tickets yet to watch your daughter you have until July 18th to text me your info and how many tickets you would like. You can get them at the $15.00 price now instead of the $20.00. This will be a really neat experience for the girls I hope we can get as many parents there as we can cheering on the Spinnakers! Family BBQ

I hope you are enjoying your summer break. We are having a family BBQ ( I hope you all can attend) on Friday July 20th at 6:30 pm at Ashley Howes house (8736 W Redbud Crt (about 3400 S)). We will be having pulled pork sandwiches and then assigning out salads, desserts, and chips. Sorry this is only a weeks notice but this is the only week I think all the girls would be in town. This is just a casual get together where we can visit with each other and just have fun. There will be chairs and tables, so all you need to do is bring you food assignment and your parents. Please RSVP to me ASAP. I will attach the food assignments at the bottom. Please text me if your coming or not and what food assignment you have so I know you read the blog. Thanks girls. Service Project For July

Hey Spinnies. I was thinking what we should do for our service project this month and the thought came to me that we should take treats or a gift basket around to the fire stations in Magna and West Valley. Letting them know that the Spinnakers appreciate the sacrifices they make and for all their hard work. I am thinking we will plan this sometime the week of the 16th-21st. :) I will post more details soon but just keep this in mind. Thank you! :) 

Practice Schedule When School Starts

Dear Spinnakers and Parents, just a heads up, after talking to other drill team coaches who have A & B days at their school, and thinking about it a lot, I feel like this will be the best schedule to help us get the most out of each practice. I know on your A days when you didnt have drill you would still come at 5:30 and practice until 7 but I feel like an hour and half is such little time especially during comp so here is the schedule that will be in effect once school starts. You will come starting at 6:00 am on all B days when you are scheduled to have drill 1st hour. Come closer to competition season we will probably come at 5:30. On A days we will not pratice in the morning (if you have tests to make up or need tutoring these are the mornings to get it done). Since we need to practice more than 2-3 times a week we will have mandatory practices every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-8:00 pm. So some weeks you will have 2 a days. I am sorry if this messes up your work schedules but this schedule works really well for other schools who have A & B days. Your girls have expressed to me that they want to work hard this year and do well, and I want them to work hard and meet the goals they have set for themselves, so I hope you will all be supportive of this practice schedule. Let me know you read this by texting me and letting me know if this schedule will work for you or if it absolutly wont work for you. I need to know ASAP. Thank you. I cant wait to see all the things you girls accomplish this year. You are an amazing group of girls.

The Rest Of The Real Info

 We will talk about everything again when we come back from break. I just wanted you to have a heads up of what the day will be like. Make sure to check back on the blog next week for info on Pictures, Service Project, Fundraisers, and August Calendar! Thanks Ladies!
August 18th, 2012
Please meet at Jordan High School football field and be ready to practice at 8am. Please have sunscreen on and bring a water bottle. Wear tennis shoes because its turf and your feet will hurt in dance shoes.
At 9:30am you will need to have your own transportation take you to the REAL stadium to do a run through. We will practice there from 10-11.
We will then do a lunch break from 11-1:30. You are on your own for this.
Please be back over to Jordan High School to practice from  1:30-3:30
From 3:30-4:30 you will get ready inside Jordan High School. We would like all teams to get ready here even if you live close.
Have your transportation take you to the REAL stadium at 4:30.
Top Corps dancers will be doing the Flag Ceremony. You will practice for this at 5:00pm. All the other dancers will hang out in the stands for a bit.
Spectators may enter the stadium at 6:00pm.
The game starts at 7:00pm
The half-time will be around 7:45pm.

WHAT TO WEAR:
For the practice you will wear black top and bottom (your choice), and tennis shoes. Have your hair pulled back. 
For the performance you will wear tight black dance pants (or unitard), black tights, performance top provided by bdt, black gores, bring your own bra top. Your hair will need to be in a slick, high top knot bun. So bring your bobby pins, hair net, etc.     
Make up: Please wear natural eye makeup with lashes, performance quality blush, and bright red lips.
 
The price for REAL is: (this includes shirt, ticket into practice and performance) Every person that enters into the REAL stadium has to have a ticket... that is their rule.

Assistant Coach

I also forgot to talk about this at the meeting. I'm sure a lot of you have been wondering if I am getting an assistant and the answer is..... YES. I just want to make sure I find the perfect fit for our team. I will be doing interviews this month and hopefully will have an awesome assistant to introduce to you that first week in August.

Food Handlers Permit Class

Remember if you have been to a food handlers class at Rice Eccles before, it is good for 2 years, if not you HAVE to be to this class if you plan on fundraising. The class is on July 31 starting at 6:30 pm at Rice Eccles Stadium. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks

Real Soccer Game Half Time Performance

I totally forgot to talk about this at the parent meeting and it is super important so please read the whole post. On August 18th the Spinnakers will be performing at the Real Soccer Game Half Time. They will be performing their camp dance along with 500 other dancers that attended camp. It will be really cool and a fun experience for these girls. The total cost for their performance top and ticket is $35.00 per girl. We will use the money we make at our car wash to help pay for this ,so I just need every girl to pay $10.00 to the office that first day back in August and then every girl must attend the car wash, if you cant make it to the car wash, (it will be scheduled for sometime in August) then you must pay the remaining $25.00. I will have more details about the whole day when it gets a little closer.Your parents can buy tickets for the game for $15.00 so get online or go to the box office and make sure you have a seat to see your daughter perform at this amazing event. There is also a fundraising opportunity for the girls to sale tickets and make $5.00 off each ticket they sale. Magna 4th of July Parade

Dear Spinnies the parade is almost here and I am so excited to see you girls do your thing. Please do your best and show Magna how amazing the Spinnakers are this year. Every single one of you will be representing your team so its important that you look and act very professional. First off we will be handing out costumes at practice in the morning. Please take them home and hand wash them (do not put them in the washer or dryer) and make sure they look nice. Make sure your blue shorts and super clean and look nice and please make sure your tights dont have any holes in them. Make sure your shoes are super clean too. Hair is in the mohawk messy buns with the poof like at camp. Even though they are messy buns make sure they wont fall out if they do you will receive a demerit. For make up we are doing the white and black again but you will be meeting at Kelseys house before the parade to do make up together to make sure its all the same. Make sure you have no finger nail polish on and that they are short. Everyone must be to the parking lots of the LDS church on 8400 W at 10:45 am sharp We need to line up and then we will practice until its time to go. The parade will go in front of brockbank and down Magna Main. Make sure you drink water before so you dont get dehydrated it will be hot. From the very first step you make in the parade all the way to the end will be done very professionally if I have any problems (which I'm sure I wont) You will receive 2 demerits. Now lets go show Magna how amazing you are and make some fun memories. You girls are amazing!! Keep up the good work!
